So I thought of the most magical musical thing I have known - ack! No, the second-most magical musical thing I have known, and I wrote it as succinctly as I dared. Counted it and it was 75 words dead on! I then performed edits: trimmed and added, trimmed and added, and checked again. 75 words again! I guess it's fate...

All RIGHT fwg!! I'm so glad you're doing this! Are you going to wait to submit it on Friday or just call it done and send it in?

My story is nasty. It's a horror story, so I guess that works? I hope that works. *scrambles to check guidelines*

I submitted immediately which was not very bright. It's always better to leave a piece to percolate for a while before coming back for one last edit but oh well; that's okay!

Can I also participate in your challenges if I only write the suggested story but don't want to submit it to the other website?

Next mini-contest is up at On the Premises: TWIST We’ve all read stories that end with what was once a clever innovation… the TWIST ENDING. (The detective tracking the mysterious killer IS the mysterious killer!!!!!) Twist endings are over 100 years old, and we’re tired of them. So we want you to write a twist BEGINNING. Your challenge: Think of a great twist ending for a story. Then, in no more than 50 words, write the beginning of a short story that starts with that twist, instead of saving it for the end. Unlike most mini-contests, we’re not asking you to tell a complete story–just begin one. Deadline: 11:59 PM Eastern US time, Friday, June 3, 2016. Length: Maximum of 50 words. Entry form at the link above....let's write the thing!
