Didn't want to post without asking...
For several years I've started out gung ho most Decembers with a list of prompts from a now deleted Live Journal community, 24XMas. At least, last I looked, at least a year ago, it was deleted. I managed to search for and save the prompts, but don't remember if I also saved the owner's name so I can properly attribute the list.
I was just thinking that it would be fun to post that list, and see if anyone would like to play, or could use the prompts. Originally you were to write each day to that day's prompt number: Prompt 3 might be icicles, so you'd write a story about/with icicles on December 3rd.
Unfortunately, I believe I don't have any way to get a hold of the list author/compiler to ask permission, which makes posting it a bit tricky in my book. There was another person on that site that collected prompts from dead/dying communities and added them to his community, so that they wouldn't be forgotten or unused. Not sure if they collected 24XMas prompts at all, but I can look.
Should I post the list in writing challenges, or just keep it to myself? Would anyone else care?
Thanks Theresa

Well, I tend to say that with this kind of 'abandonware copyright' for internet material, if you've made a bona fide attempt to find and/or credit the original author and can't, there isn't a huge problem with posting it, possibly with a note saying, "Hey, if you're the original author of this and want credit, or want it taken down, just contact me at _____@___.com" And yeah, go ahead and post it in the writing challenges forum. Maybe nobody else will care enough to join in, but maybe they will, the best way to find out is to try it. Who knows, maybe the original author of the list will find it and want to sign up here at Stringing Words!

Thanks Theresa Having moderated quite a few fic, fic prompt and original fiction prompt communities [on LiveJournal], most of what is offered is generally 'open source'. Anyone can use it, anyone can share it. The community has been deleted since 2012 (Wayback Machine archives last cached it on June 15, 2012) so I would say the prompts are kind of out there and free for others to use. If you feel, you could source the the community but state it is deleted (eg. Source: 24XMas.livejournal.com - since deleted) and if someone comes across them, they'll at least see you sourced them.

Thanks folks. December and January were horrible months for me - had Dad in emergency at the beginning of Dec to start with, and Jan ended with the death of my precious furbaby, Heidi. I spent February in a fog. March has had its ups and downs so far.
I am working on outlining and organizing instead of pantsing. Trying to get back into a semblance of structure and consistency.
Have a great weekend!
Theresa

Oh Theresa, so sorry to hear about the rough start to your year. I hope your dad is all right. So sorry for the loss of Heidi. I know exactly how devastating that can be. With the transition into spring, I hope things will start looking up.
