Well, we didn't spell out the rules in this thread. I've generally interpreted that you can remove any one letter, add a new letter at any spot (in between, at the start, at the end,) change a letter into any other, or move any letter to a different spot: but only 1 out of those 4 things at a time! And of course, you need to get to a real word at every step.
